Boy, and do we have emotions in California!  California has the most
restrictive pesticide regulations in the country, the best pesticide
application reporting, and the most active department of pesticide
regulation and public health tracking.  CDPR issues extensive annual
reports, including how it is phasing out organophosphates.

Ghislain, the pesticide manufacturers have gotten the message.  They
solicit the advice of beekeeping experts as to how to develop products that
won't kill bees.  Members of CDPR and EPA met with beekeepers this week re
issues in almonds.

Obviously, any manufacturer is going to defend the use of his product--that
is only fair.  To imply that they hold sway over EPA is an insult to our
regulators, a number of whom I've gotten to know.  I understand that it was
not you saying so, but it is important to differentiate between objective
writing and hyperbole and fear mongering.

All parties are working toward a common goal of fewer toxic chemicals in
our environment.
