Something is wrong here.  You need a bee space between comb faces.  If comb itself is 1 1/4" wide you need frame spacing of 1 1/2".  We know 1 3/8" works fine.  So comb can be no more than 1 1/8" thick.  If you are going to reduce the spacing to 1 1/4" the comb can be no more than 1" thick or cells slightly under 1/2" deep to allow for the thickness of the mid rib.
