Thanks Allen. Try to be thorough, nobody reads to the end. Try to be brief, they read between the lines. The point of the post was this: Everybody suffers losses. Major losses occur even with prophylactic measures. 

Calling for a ban on pesticides which show little or no harm would hamper other agri-businesses. And for what, if they produce no significant benefit to those calling for such bans?  

The "precautionary principle" is basically fear mongering. Decades of field evidence trumps dubious lab tests. Sorry if this is boring, but there is a lot at stake here.
