I agree with Allen's comments - with one caveat, my colleague from Europe
thought that our local beekeeper should not keep back supers of honey in the
comb for feeding in late winter, early spring. Again, in his mind,
fondant was superior to all feed stocks.
In MT, not only is the moisture in syrup and extracted honey a problem in
winter, the whole mess would freeze in to a solid block. If I have to push
the season to feed, fondant or dry sugar are my preferred choices, assuming
I've no honey in the comb left.
