The first thing that came to my mind on this subject was using a hair dryer 
to gently warm the surface and then wiping it clean with some paper 
towels.  This could be tricky with plexiglass.  You would have to be 
careful to warm it evenly and not get it too hot or it would warp.  But 
with glass it should work well.
