    That year (1993) agrees with my understanding.  That year my friend, 
Gerry Loper, went out to check a recently hived swarm in Tucson while 
dressed in shorts and sandals.  He got a real surprise when he lifted 
the lid !!

    I believe that is the first record of AHB in Arizona.
