From what I have been hearing you don't have to wait until there brood-less. 
A friend of mine has his own (jerry-rig) system.Sort of like a smoker but 
not, the working principals are the same as a smoker. A canister that can be 
compressed with air, with a thermal-coupler and thermostat built in.A 
pressure regulator for accurate delivery of product. You do have to go back 
three times if their is allot of brood, kind of like most methods used.The 
one treatment and out of here, is hard to find, but we are all looking for 
it..

I'm still using formic acid with my own model for delivery, but also looking 
for plan B when this quit working.
