Has anyone developed a foundation with varying sizes, with the smaller

Would it be worth putting normal foundation into frames but cutting out a
large central circle? Combs might then be reasonably parallel, so easy to
manipulate, but the bees could build just the centres with small cells.
Anyone tried this?
