John Halbrooks: >I've heard good things about Casadesus's Ravel, the complete solo piano >music on 2 discs. Any comments? Alternative versions? It's fine, but not special. Further, be aware that most "complete" Ravel piano musics are not complete, since several pieces have been discovered since the 1960s. As far as I know, Entremont's is one of the few truly complete, but it's Entremont. Crossley is better. Perlemutter strikes me as better than Entremont and as good as Casadesus, and it's in stereo, if that's a consideration. At this point, I like Crossley best, but of course individual pieces are better done by other pianists. Steve Schwartz
