Has anyone else heard this? I'm giving another listen to it right now - don't hear anything but the music. Ron is faced with three possibilities: 1. It's your ear. There's a fly in there which gets agitated with those three movements; definitely not an Andrew Carlan fan. 2. It's all in your mind. I'd hate to tell you what's coming next. 3. The disc sucks. Take it back. The E flat major quartet, opus 14 is one fine string quartet, much, much better than the opus 13. Nielsen has really honed his skills by this time. The quartet has a great "edge" to it while also being very poetic. There's some great melodies also, and Nielsen starts exhibiting some dissonance as well. It's a superb package of compact and masterful music. Don Satz [log in to unmask]
