It is so nice to see another MD interested in learning more about lactation and breastfeeding. Self taught is fine and there are lots of books and self teaching modules around. One good one is Lactation Management Skills by Vergie Hughes. Some of the modules are more advanced than others but you might find yourself learning alot from them. The premature and alternative feeding modules are particularly good. The most important thing is seeing lots of breastfeeding dyads in varying situations. If there is a LLL group that has couples meetings (my group for example has a couples meeting every 4 months) then you might also want to consider going to a meeting and hearing mothers' concerns.
