Richard Pennycuick advertize the wrong number: >Peter Lundin wrote of Shostakovich's 11th: I'm sorry Richard, but I wrote about DSCH 4'th.. >>Unfortunatly I only own three recordings of this symphony (Ashkenasy/RPO, >>Jarvi/SRSO-Live, Kondrashin/MPO) and niether is fully satisfying. > >If you're prepared to listen to a mono version, the original Cluytens on >Testament is, IMHO, second to none of the other 9 or 10 versions I've >heard. I allready have the Cluytens 11, and regard it as fine, not exeptional. My "at the moment" favourite 11, is a live concert I taped with Alexander Lazarev and the Swedish RSO late march last year. On CD I prefer the swift Ashkenazy/St.PbPO (Decca) and the darker Kondrashin/MPO (Melodiya). And I still have a hard time to make up my mind about Mravinsky in general. peter lundin, gothenburg.se
