The record I am aware of is 23 days. Someone at one conference I spoke at said they were aware of 25 days without a bowel movement. As long as the baby is breastfeeding well, as long as the baby is gaining, as long as the baby is otherwise okay, as long as the bowel movements are soft, there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. We are a bowel movement fixated society. We are also a formula feeding society, and because the breastfed baby's bowel movements don't correspond to those of the artificially fed baby's, we get all unnerved.
