Thank you, all, for your suggestions about the case of very thin mom and little milk. We've not given up yet. We talked about mom's diet, and Dad is working on more calories, particularly fats. Mom has had problems with her weight/food. In college she was ill from not eating enough, and forced milk shakes for a few months to regain some of the weight. She forgets to eat when things are going on around her. She is hand-expressing more drops now, and hasn't given up on a milk supply. She is using a Classic pump, getting 1-2 drops. Meanwhile baby is growing on abm, taken with supplementer at the breast (somewhat). Yesterday he was happy to be at the breast for suckling after a feed, and his latch was good. I also recommended a calcium/magnesium supplement, thinking that with her modest diet she might be deficient here. I'll let you know how it goes.
