I can sympathise.  There may always be the odd kamikaze bee in even the most
peaceful hive.  Some places react worse than others. Anything on the face may
make the eyes water.  Ankles are most painful.  Everybody reacts differently.
My first stings of the season take two days coming up and two days going down
again but by the end of the season I may have a slight irritation as if I have
caught myself on a splinter and then find a sting embedded in my finger.
It might be a worth while experiment to get oneself deliberately stung at
intervals during the winter to keep the immunity going.
