STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION, SPONSORED BY THE COUNCIL FOR NORTHEAST HISTORICAL ARCHAEOLOGY OCTOBER 17-19, 1997 ALTOONA, PA The Council for Northeast Historical Archaeology is pleased to announce its second annual student paper competition, to be held at its annual meetings in Altoona, PA, October 17-19. Graduate and undergraduate students are invited to submit abstracts for twenty-minute papers on any topic related to historical archaeology in the northeastern United States and the eastern provinces of Canada. Students are also encouraged to submit papers related to the twin themes of the conference--industrial archaeology and the role of archaeologists in heritage tourism. Prizes will be awarded for the best graduate and undergraduate papers. The two winners will each receive a year's free membership in CNEHA and the winning papers will be published in Northeast Historical Archaeology, the journal of the Council for Northeast Historical Archaeology.
