Lana writes: about extended nursing

The term 'extended nursing' seems to insinuate that we are extending the
nursing relationship beyond the normal course. Could we use a different
term that would indicate it is the norm for human offspring? What can we
come up with?

I've started referring to weaning prior to 2.5 years as "premature weaning."
Anything over 7 years might be considered "extended." But there still
should be nothing pejorative about using the word extended, in any context.
