It was my impression, and I do not know if it is true, that a very large
percentage of New World archaeological olive jars come from a very few towns
in Cadiz province Spain.  If this is the case, an examination of the notarial
archives might be very  interesting for identifying marks and related
material.  The notarial archives for Cadiz province are mostly at the
provincial archive in Cadiz and are very complete for the centuries in
question.  Archaeological excavations in 15th/18th deposits in these towns
might also be very useful.
