I recently had contact with a mother whose newborn was diagnosed with
Chylothorax at a tertiary hospital. The infant is on a special formula
called Portagen and she was told the baby could have no breastmilk until at
least 2 months of age because of the fats in the milk. She is pumping and
storing at present with plans to put baby to breast at two months of age. I
have never heard of this disease before and thought that galactosemia was
only disease where breastmilk was contraindicated. Has anyone ever heard of
this disease before or have any information?
