Hello from Tacoma, Well this is what happens when one puts fingers in gear before mind in motion. A few weeks ago, I mentioned that the Pierce County Breastfeeding Alliance developed papers for Health Professionals. As I was typing, I became concerned about the number of requests getting expensive so I added an amount to cover the mailing. That got me in trouble with Lactnet and I changed it to a donation. Well our representative from the Health Department has informed me that it would cost more to process the money then it is worth. So she wants me to tell you "Don't Send Money!" Oh Well! I have been interested in the discussion about Latex gloves. I choose to not use them in my private practice. When I worked for a pediatric group or went to the hospital, I would put on the gloves and within 20 minutes I would get a hot flash and feel claustrophobic. My hands are normally very dry but in those gloves my hands would sweat so much that I had puddles in each finger tip. It looked like I was nervous about my information and very unprofessional. I wonder if it was an allergic reaction? I have a concern about ultrasound that is more related to childbirth than breastfeeding and would ask that people email me privately. When I was studying for my certification I read a lot about possible concerns to the fetus, and I have been following the information about using it for plug ducts. My 14 year old had to have surgery for 3 ovarian cysts last January. I had an ultrasound and amino. at about 14-16 weeks because of my age. Has there been any long term studies on these first babies who had an ultrasound? If there is a study being done now, is this information they would like to know? Could my daughter's surgery be related to this or is it hormonal. This is what I was told, but I have not heard of too many 14 year olds having this. Thanks, Diane Herforth Tacoma WA
