Rush Prudential HMO here in Chicago actually had me set up a whole Lactation Program for them. All first time lactating mothers would receive a home visit and any multip having bf problems would also be able to receive a LC visit- all payed by HMO. Of course we got it all set up with the finest LC's in Chicago, and then PS... you need to be a Home Health Care, Joint Commissioned Certified, etc, etc. Needless to say, the program went by the wayside. But maybe good news is that they are still working for a progam. Many of us have received mail from Rush Home Care recruiting LC's. What that means, I am unsure. Just hope they someday get a program together here in Chicago. I have seen people interested in pump reinbursement. This particular HMO does cover pump rental. Also, I know that Kim down in Atlanta Georgia, after many months of hard work, was able to get a bill passed statewide for Medicaid reimbursement for breastpumps. She worked in coordination with Grady Hospital. That was implemented in Oct. 1994. Hard work does pay off. Pat Bull, RN, IBCLC Naperville, IL
