White clover is fairly prevalent here in the eastern US; it's often
included in lawn seeds for a mixed lawn.  We have a lot of it volunteering in
our pasture this fall, and the horses like to nibble it...good source of
protein for them, and also fixes some nitrogen for the other pasture grasses.
The honeybees work it extensively.
