Pierre Roban sequence consists of micrognathia(=small jaw) with glossoptosis
(=downward displacement or retraction of the tongue),
pseuudomacroglossia(=the tongue appears to be too large) and high arched or
cleft palate. So the problem is, when the child is supine, the tongue falls
back and obstructs the pharynx and sometimes the airway. The baby should be
kept prone. Very occasionally the baby has to be trached. With a lot of
patience, hard work, a good occupational therapist and LC, the baby should
be able to eventually breastfeed. Presuming of course, a dedicated and
determined mother. This is your ultimate latch on nightmare so all involved
will have to be extremely supportive. Good luck to you.
