In fact this is a big part of the problem.  I have found that
out in the field (literally a field, like a prairie) there often
is no shade for some distance, I and my hands are hot and sweaty,
there is no level place to put anything nor anywhere to store it
except hanging from your body where it bangs around as you walk
and I don't have to go very far before it is impractical to
return to my car.  This doesn't bother <me> but it doesn't
sound like good conditions under which to collect oodles of
specimens and expect to get them home in decent shape.  Is there
some vital piece of equipment other people are using to solve
these problems?
