Hello.

A mother reports she was told she has to suspend breastfeeding for 12 hours
after a local injection of lidocaine in the breast for a biopsy.
I looked up lidocaine in Hale and Lactmed, and got those info.

My question is: is there a particular risk of longer permanence of the drug
into the breast/milk due to the fact that it is injected directly into it?

What would a reasonable time to wait for resuming breastfeeding?
The child is 15 months old.

My feeling is that as soon as she is no longer feeling the anesthetic
effect in the breast, the level of lidocaine in her body will be low enough
not to pose a risk to the baby (considering also the low bioavailability of
the drug), but I would like to be more evidence based than "having a
feeling".

Thanks for the help,
