>How was this administered? I would imagine that would affect the release rate, distribution, and loss of active ingredient. Absolutely! See Medhat's reply. Apivar is clearly the best way to administer amitraz. > > >Also it seems to me that I read that there is a difference between the > Amitraz in Apivar and Taktic. If so, is that significant? > Yes, the Penn State team found that Taktic was 4x as toxic to bees as amitraz alone, apparently due to the adjuvants. I'm not saying that Apivar caused noticeable harm to my nucs, nor am I saying anything negative about the product in any way. I was approached early on by the registrant for my opinion on whether they should pursue registration of the product in the U.S., and I encouraged them. But I am neither a salesman for, nor activist against any product or beekeeping practice, so long as it does not tarnish the good name of honey. In this instance, I used the product as the varroacide of choice for a field trial, taking all factors into consideration. I was merely asking for others' field observations. -- Randy Oliver Grass Valley, CA www.ScientificBeekeeping.com *********************************************** The BEE-L mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
