I do a lot of phone help with my LLLL hat on, so once a mom makes an
appointment for a house call, I've already covered all of the basics and
gathered a great deal of information. I always need at least an hour, but
am often done at 90min, because I rarely have more than one client in a
day, and we can aim for when baby is most likely to be alert and hungry. I
tell the families that they can call or email at any time for the next
week, whenever a question pops up or they need information repeated (though
I email them a copy of the "chart," so most of it is there) or just need a
bit of handholding to make it through another day.
