> Does anyone else have any experiences they can share? > I tried the weather station route and found a simple max/min station (ambient weather model ws-1171) and a rain gauge was more than enough, coupled with the internet. I tend to go either all out or KISS so settled on keep it simple for my station. I check a couple of sites in my area ( weather underground, intellicast, and accuweather ) and can get history and forecasts, but there often are local sites that do all the work for you. In my area it is http://www.bathmaineweather.com/index.php done by a local weather enthusiast. I like to compare my readings with theirs and we are only a few degrees different, but rainfall amounts are the same. I use the readings for an excel spreadsheet to compute degree days for my garden and fruit orchard.
