My masters thesis dealt with a wheelwright's shop in Perry City, Schuyler County, New York, late 19th century. Unfortunately, neither the thesis nor the measured drawings of the now demolished shop are digital. James G. I have reports by UDCAR/DelDOT, Hunter Research, Inc, and Richard Grubb and Associates. I was wondering if anyone else had reports that could be sent via PDF for regional comparison? The Data Recovery at St. Georges recovered a total of 30,058 artifacts from the shop, with 24,724 or 82% ferrous metal items with lesser quantities of copper alloy and white metal, ceramics and glass. The shop measured 20 feet wide by 90 feet long (3 equal sections) two stories. There was a Farrier in the first section and blacksmiths in the second and third sections. Wheelwright work took place on the second floor. We have a great circa 1909 photo of the smiths and the front and side of the shop. The shop burned down in either November or December of 1919 and even though it was the subject of a Data Recovery, it remains intact beneath a grassy lawn.
