I"m enjoying this discussion on drones, but from memory I'm getting conflicting ideas about the location of drone producing hives.  From what I can tell, it's best to have your drone supply colonies located about a mile from your mating yard; ideally there being four or more drone hives, located at the four major points of the compass.  However, I have read that some queen producers keep their drone hives in the same yard as their mating nucs.   Is there a clear, diffinitive answer to this conflict of ideas?
