Hi o wise ones,PTP. Working with a mum who had an elective C-section. Baby wouldn't latch. Mum felt midwives in the hospital were brutal in their attempts to latch baby.I saw mum on day 7. Helped her with ssc and lying back. Baby too sleepy to feed - liked being against mum though. Baby had latched twice in first week. Since then baby has latched on and fed occasionally at breast. Mum feels baby's snuffily, blocked nose is causing the problem as baby tries to latch on. Sometimes she (baby) gets it other times its as though she can't breathe if on and so can't get on. Baby has no problem feeding from a bottle. There is no sign of milk regurgitation through nose. Am I right in thinking the blocked nose could be due to the c-section? More importantly any ideas on clearing the mucous? Many thanks in advance,Sarah McCann. BScHons, IBCLC, LLL Leaderwww.BreastfeedingResourcesNI.co.uk
