There are any types of cedar. Some are far more dense than others. Some
are far more aromatic. Without seeing the wood, it is hard to say.

I bought some cedar hives one time in the '80's. The boxes did not last
long in commercial service. I sold 400 random boxes the other day from the
2,000 or so I have left and none were cedar as I recall. Among the ones I
saw, there were many that were over 60 years old and made of spruce or pine.

I bought an outfit forty years ago from some fellows (one was 65 and the
other 90) who made their frames from hardwood, since that was what grew in
their yard. Those were good frames!

Anyhow, I would not make frames from any cedar I have seen so far.
