The first we used are the NEC WT-600 / 610 that rely on curved first-surface mirrors to get the desired throw. While they have excellent image quality, the way the image gets thrown off the mirror can limit the installation options. Example- one projector is used on an 8' x 6' screen. The great part is that the unit sits 2.5' behind the screen. The disadvantage is the screen has to be a certain height- in this case ~2.5' above the floor. We have no wiggle room in terms of placement or angle of the projector, and that can get rather frustrating when you're designing a setup. We recently deployed an Epson Powerlite 400 ( http://www.projectorreviews.com/epson/powerlite-400w/) for another installation, and though we needed about 3.5' to fill an identical 8' x 6' screen, we had lots of room behind the screen to vary the height and angle of the projector. Hope that helps a bit.
