I can go along with that. I don't often change my mind but it has happened. Shostakovich started making more sense to me after ~2000. I still think Mahler overdid things but look forward to LA Philharmonic evenings including his symphonies (Disney Hall helps). As a beginning piano student, I'm getting to the point where I can play some short pieces and have enjoyed learning some of Bartok's works. Next up, a little Krenek. I don't think I'll ever grok opera/choral works or the throbbingly percussive stuff written by so many modernists, though. --- Ravi *********************************************** The CLASSICAL mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's HDMail High Deliverability Mailer for reliable, lightning fast mail delivery.
