Many thanks to everyone who posted a reply to my plea for help both on and off list. The news is mixed. Baby's pediatrician offered a prescription for domperidone and name and location of a compounding pharmacy. She also, however, told mom not to have a follow-up with any Dr's because the likelihood of retained placenta, pituitary problems, or other hormonal abnormalities was very rare and not worth this Moms energy. Sigh. For the meantime, Mom is going to start domperidone and see if it has any impact on her supply. She is currently pumping every three hours, but plans to go back to pumping every two hours on the third day of the domperidone. If there is not any milk production increase after a week of pumping plus domperidone, she will seek some blood tests for hormone imbalances and perhaps an ultrasound for the possible retained placenta. We tried a new feeding bottle today with great success (the Adiri "breastbottle" 0-3 month flow). Baby was, for the first time, not overwhelmed with milk and even Dad can feed baby (he was not very successful at the paced feeding). Mom is thrilled after trying 5 other bottle nipples to find one that works for her little girl. Baby is latching a couple of times a day for up to 15 minutes. We can hear some swallowing, but have no idea of milk transfer. Mom is going to start feeding her collected, pumped breastmilk at the breast when she latches with a nursing system "a la Jack Newman." Again Many thanks, if you have any more thoughts or helpful suggestions for this dyad please keep them coming! Very warmly, Charity *********************************************** Archives: http://community.lsoft.com/archives/LACTNET.html To reach list owners: [log in to unmask] Mail all list management commands to: [log in to unmask] COMMANDS: 1.
