Jennifer, I appreciate your thoughtful replies. I can see how in my haste, I have not communicated my ideas as clearly as I had hoped. Nevertheless, what I am really proposing is a continuum of care for every child-bearing woman from third trimester until weaning. This would not in anyway negate peer support. I think it would greatly increase it because more women would breastfeed and more would breastfeed longer. This would not in anyway negate those wonderful lactation specialists who know more than I do about induced lactation, premies, reductions, cancer, hormones and such. Matter of fact, like peer support, I think they all would get busier because more women would breastfeed...you get the idea. Also, I didn't mean to indicate that my idea would follow midwifery or medical METHODS. I just meant to indicate that we already *have* a medical system and most of us are working within it by default; we need to find a way within what we already have, to best serve the needs of EVERY child bearing woman. Blessings!
