Dear all: I took my HIPPA form from a legally reviewed form my husband uses for his practice as a clinical psychologist. This form, used by New York psychologists states that one cannot condition services upon signing the HIPPA authorization. I will be seeing a lawyer this week on a variety of issues raised by the scope of practice and will also ask about this particular section of the HIPPA authorization. I was under the impression that you cannot legally withhold services if someone is unwilling to sign the form according to US HIPPA regulations. I'm hoping the lawyer will be able to provide clarity without charging me an arm and a leg.
