My first thought was that hindmilk would weigh more (becasue it is "richer"), but then I remembered that fat floats, so it's lighter than water, right? I think must be correct about cream vs. skim milk. This will have to be one of our homeschooling science projects this week! The only question is whether I should run to the store to buy supplies or do some manual expression and compare foremilk to hindmilk. I am nursing a 2-year-old, so my Marmet Technique is a bit rusty! It would probably be faster to do to the store and get some moo-juice. Perhaps this is something that everyone knows except me.... Or point me to where I can find out about the weight of fat heavy milk vs low fat milk? I'm assuming the same would hold true for cow's milk -- so that a pint of heavy whipping cream would weigh less than a pint of skim milk. I don't have any on hand so can't weigh it out, but would love to know how much the differences would be. I don't recall that Paula Meier made that sort of a differentiation in her study that showed that 1 ml of human milk weighed 1 gm but perhaps I missed it.
