A baby with birth wt of 9-1oz, now 6 days old and 10 pounds is getting his caloric needs met and more! Blow me over with a feather. I would suggest the use of mother's hindmilk in the hospital. Easily obtained by cooling her pumped milk and skimming off the top 1 oz., or mom can pump into a container for about 8 minutes, change containers, pump for another 5-8 minutes and voila! she will have the hindmilk. Are any of the nursery staff willing to consult with an LC or MD with IBCLC? Let us know what happens.
