Dear Slim,

I'm wondering how you would greet a bottle feeding mother? Usually, I say
"Hi," smile, and go about my business. If the mother is familiar, or her
hair is on fire, I would usually say something like, "Hi, did we go to
school together?" or "Hi, did you know your hair is on fire?"

Depends on the situation, I suppose, as well as the level of familiarity I
wish to assume. I treat breastfeeding mothers the same way. "Hi, did we go
to school together?" "Hi, How nice. My mom breastfed her children, too." or
"Hi, have you tried the sushi, here? What would you recommend?"

Most breastfeeding mothers are not putting on a show for your amusement or
amazement. Believe it or not!

Sincerely,
Heather Doak
