Dear all:

Now NPR has started the other problem --- moms breasts are now being blamed. The NPR program
this morning talked about women's empty breasts and looking for goat's milk. I'm emailing them
asap. I still remember CNN going on and on about the first Gulf War when they said that babies were
dying because they didn't have formula.

The press does need to be educated. As for the president's statement, make no mistake --- the lack
of food is a huge problem and it is not manufactured by the aid organizations. I can tell you that I
understand that the president might be upset because the press is not interviewing anyone but aid
agencies. The press really should be interviewing the Nigerien. The Famine Early Warning System
(FEWS) has great Nigerien statisticiens and would have good statistics on this. They should be
interviewing these Nigerien experts.

Best Regards, Susan Burger
