Renee, I think you are referring to ductal carcinoma in situ or DCIS. Did this mom have bilateral DCIS and/or bilateral radiation of the breast? If she was only treated on one side, she may be able to breastfeed from the unaffected breast. (see http://www.susanlovemd.org/faq/breast-feeding/breast-feeding2.html) Is it possible that the lack of milk is related to the extreme stress this mother is undergoing? Please try to find out if she had any breast growth/change during pregnancy. All may not be lost. Try googling "ductal carcinoma in situ" + breastfeeding OR DCIS + breastfeeding. Mom gave me permission to post. She is 22 and at age 18 was diagnosed with ductus carcinoma insitu. She had much of her milk ducts removed. She is having a hard time because she wanted to breastfeed so badly. She obviously has no ducts because she has made no milk whatsoever. *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
