The thread seems to have widened to include all female composers, so I
must mention several Australians who will be unknown to most list members:

Peggy Glanville-Hicks, orchestral music and operas, spent most of her
career in the US;
Dulcie Holland, piano music;
Margaret Sutherland, wrote in all forms, best known for a fine violin
concerto;
Miriam Hyde, who died last week at 91, and when in her mid-70s still had
the chops to record her two Rachmaninovian piano concertos;
Elena Kats-Chernin and Liza Lim, who are the next generation.
