The workshop that Glass and Wolf does on feeding and swallowing disorders in the infant goes into some of the parameters for choosing the appropriate nipple for various infant problems. My engineer husband has explained the differences in some of the feeding systems to me Dr. Brown's, Platex with bags, Avent. We should be more knowledgable about this and also, know what is currently on the market. I didn't know that the Evenflow Ultra was not being made. I have been recommending them for certain situations. depending on the infant's oral anatomy, individual sucking disorder etc different nipples/bottles would be appropriate. Ofcourse, the goal is working towards getting the baby to the breast. Occupational therapists who special in infant feeding problems would be a great resource for this.
