ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions. ***************************************************************************** Linoleum is a very nice and natural flooring material, but far from maintenance free. We used to have it on our temporary exhibition areas. Bit does not go well with water and we had to put in an extra day/night de-polish and polish time at every exhibit change. Now we have a plastic flooring (PUR) that only need high-speeding once in a while. But... I hate to miss an opportunity to put in a plug for linoleum. It's made now by a company called Forbo in the Netherlands. It's an all-natural, solvent-free, very durable, resilient sheet product that can be laid down in colorful patterns. I don't know which, if any, science centers have used it. But I'd love to see it used more. The technical specs are on the website. http://www.forbo-linoleum.nl/marmoleum/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wendy Pollock" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2004 2:53 PM Subject: Re: Gallery flooring? > ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers > Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions. > **************************************************************************** * > > Robert Fry, formerly of the Exploratorium and now of Albuquerque's new > Explora, gives some advice about carpet, and other strategies for > controlling ambient noise, in this area of the ASTC web site: > > http://www.astc.org/resource/sound/fry.htm > > ___________________________ > Wendy Pollock > Director > Research, Publications, and Exhibitions > Association of Science-Technology Centers > 1025 Vermont Avenue, NW, Suite 500 > Washington, DC 20005 > 202/783-7200 x 114 > 202/783-7207 (fax) > [log in to unmask] > www.astc.org > > *********************************************************************** > More information about the Informal Science Education Network and the > Association of Science-Technology Centers may be found at http://www.astc.org. > To remove your e-mail address from the ISEN-ASTC-L list, send the > message SIGNOFF ISEN-ASTC-L in the BODY of a message to > [log in to unmask] *********************************************************************** More information about the Informal Science Education Network and the Association of Science-Technology Centers may be found at http://www.astc.org.
