I am not at all surprised that allergies and antibiotic use are associated, but is this cause and effect, and if so, which came first?? In my experience, allergies and intolerances stress the immune system, and especially in a baby and young child, often result in repeated ear infections and possibly other 'common' childhood infections. So you would expect an allergic child to have these sorts of problems as a baby and therefore be more likely to have been given antibiotics. I am not sure if I am correct in assuming the conclusions from this study were that antibiotics resulted in increased risk of allergies and asthma, but if that is what they are saying, then I don't think this is valid. *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
