On 8/12/2003 James Fischer <[log in to unmask]> grumbled an excellent system using thumbtacks for tracking the age of brood comb. >I don't have to expound - you do! >You "expound" a colored thumbtack into each frame. :) This is all well and good, but what if that brood frame is full of honey, or has some brood in it? Do you just take it anyway and melt it out? Second, someone asked about how the season is going. I only have two hives located in Batavia, Illinois, but thus far, this year has been going gangbusters. The 3 pound package that I put on drawn comb already produced 100 pounds and the hive that didn't die last year produced 60 pounds, with about another 50 in the supers but uncapped. It should be a record-breaking year.
