I actually prefer the regular gowns with the snaps at the shoulders. Not only are they good for breastfeeding (mom can "strip" to the waist, but quickly cover prn for privacy) but they are excellent for kangaroo care. Baby can be placed between mom's breasts, the front of the gown pulled back up over baby and resnapped at shoulders with baby's head sticking out through neck opening. Easier than trying to slide baby up under gown. Mothers more often than not complain about the nsg gowns - it seems that no matter what size her breasts, the openings are never in the right place or the right length for her to comfortable fit her breast through. The gowns we get went to our units are the telemetry unit gowns with the pocket on the front of the gown and the slit just inside the pocket to fit the monitor wires through. I've seen moms trying to fit their breast through that small opening! And our telemetry unit gets our nursing gowns! Go figure!
