Hi all, I have been following the thread about blood in stools very closely. We have a mom coming to LLL that has been trying to figure out what is causing the blood in her not quite 2 month child's stools. Recently the baby also has had the orange crystals in the diaper. This mom has seen specialists and tried many things (i.e. some food elimination and blood tests for disease), and the next step recommended by the docs, is to give formula. My question is: If you were seeing a baby with blood in stool and uric acid crystals, what list of things would you be checking for and in what order? Mom and I are a little concerned that people are hyper-focusing on breastfeeding and might be missing the real problem. MUCH focus has been on mom's diet. Mom is coming over to my house tomorrow (Saturday) to hang out. So speedy replies are great, but I can always call her later if anyone gets this message after the weekend. In the interest of protecting her privacy, I have purposely kept this brief. Tomorrow I think she will probably give me permission to post her story. My request is mainly so I can continue to have an intelligent conversation with her. :-) Thanks for your time, Nikki Simmons LLL of Jefferson City, Missouri USA [log in to unmask] *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
