Cheryl, I  so agree with you!!  I would say that about 60% of the babies I
see daily in the hospital have dysfunctional suck in the beginning.
Certainly more VE babies , and those who where suctioned, have problems but
I do see many babies who were delivered totally naturally or without major
intervention who exhibit the same disability.  I start to question the
overuse of ultrasound here in Israel.  Most docs have the ultrasound in
their clinics and moms want to "see" their babies every visit.  Some babies
may be ultrasounded as many as 20 times before they are born.  Could this be
causing suck problems?
